Giardini Colourfall

A monumental work by Ian Davenport at the Venice Biennale

On display at The Swatch Pavilion, for the duration for the Venice Biennale, is one of the largest, site-specific installations ever produced by British artist Ian Davenport. Located in the Venice Giardini, the monumental painting, ‘Giardini Colourfall’, is inspired by the chromatic palette of historical masterpieces by Gustav Klimt, Claude Monet and Pietro Perugino. Paint is poured in a systematic, chromatic order of dizzying vertical lines which pool and merge at the base of the painting.

For over thirty years, Swiss watchmaker Swatch has collaborated with leading artists to create artist-designed limited edition watches. In 2017, Swatch has worked with Ian Davenport to create the limited edition WIDE ACRES OF TIME. This new Swatch Art Special watch, designed by Ian Davenport for the smallest canvas he has ever worked on is now available in a numbered edition of 1,966.
