Germano Celant on John Wesley

Germano Celant will discuss the work of American artist John Wesley (b.1928) in the context of the gallery’s current exhibition ‘John Wesley: The Henry Ford Syndrome’.

 

Formerly the Director, and now the Artistic and Scientific Superintendent, of the Fondazione Prada he curated a major retrospective of Wesley’s work at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Venice,  in 2009.

 

Celant is a renowned Art Historian and has served as the curator of hundreds of exhibitions worldwide and published over one hundred books and catalogues. A long time Contributing Editor to ‘Artforum’ and ‘Interview Magazine’, he was formerly the Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (1989–2008), the Co-Director of the first Florence Biennale (1996) and the Director of the 47th Venice Biennale (1997). More recently, he was the Project Director of ‘The Floating Piers’ by Christo and Jeanne-Claude at Lago d’Iseo.
