Peter Blake uses an AI-powered robot to paint

300 guests arriving on the red carpet for the 60th anniversary party at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, participated in a world first: a monumental collage designed by Sir Peter Blake, painted live during the event by an AI powered robot.

The AI converted 300 real-time photographs into a line drawing, instructing a robot holding a calligraphy brush to paint them into one of Blake’s signature ‘crowds’ collages. Guests watched as their portraits were painted onto the five metre wide canvas during the evening, set against a backdrop of the hotel.
