Bernar Venet

Sculptures, Furniture and Works on Paper
26 September–31 October 2026
Dubai
Waddington Custot Dubai presents a survey of Bernar Venet, one of the most restless practitioners of his generation. Since the early 1960s Venet has moved across an unusually broad range of media: tar poured onto canvas and cardboard, a heap of industrial coal claimed as sculpture, paintings and drawings built from mathematical equations and scientific diagrams, sound recordings, photography, performance, poetry and stage design. And, from the 1980s onward, the Corten steel Arcs, Angles and Indeterminate Lines, for which he is now best known.

This exhibition draws three of those strands together. Sculpture in steel is shown alongside Venet's furniture, which translates the geometry of the sculptures into functional form, and a group of works on paper that trace the conceptual logic running beneath all of it.
