Fabienne Verdier collaborates with France’s historic Manufacture nationale de Sèvres

Over a hundred porcelain plates will be unveiled at Fine Arts Paris 2026

At Fine Arts Paris 2026, Fabienne Verdier and the Manufacture nationale de Sèvres unveil a new collaboration. Supported by AXA, the fair’s official partner, the project invited Verdier to work for a year with the artisans of Sèvres Manufacture, forming a unique dialogue between her painting and the centuries-old craftsmanship traditions of France. Through the collaboration, Verdier follows in the footsteps of other artists who had worked with Sèvres, such as Zao Wou-Ki and Chu Teh-Chun.

For this collection, Verdier used plates from the celebrated ‘Service Diane’ range and a series of vases designed by Pierre Charpin as her canvases. She worked alongside the craftswomen of the ground-application workshop, applying cobalt, the source of the famous Sèvres blue, in three layers using the traditional ‘blaireautage’ technique.

Through over a year of research, Verdier explored new techniques and tools to translate her large-scale brushwork onto the circular surface of the plate. The collaboration resulted in over a hundred pieces, evoking the Breton coastline of the artist's childhood, constellations and cellular forms.

The pieces will be on view at Fine Arts Paris, Grand Palais, 19–23 September, Stand C26.
