Fernando Botero

Fernando Botero, legendary Colombian artist known and loved around the world, has passed away on 15 September 2023 at the age of 91.

A statement from Stephane Custot:

"I first met Fernando Botero nearly 25 years ago and he became one of my closest friends. He was full of humanity and generosity and it was a privilege for me to have gained such an intimate knowledge of his work, alongside this great artist, during his lifetime. For me, Fernando’s sculptures have a beauty and simplicity which is timeless. His work will ignite audiences for decades from now, perhaps centuries. I saw him just 10 days ago and now he has left us. We will miss him greatly."
