Pablo Reinoso awarded Knight of the Légion d’Honneur of France

Presented by President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace on November 26, 2025

On 26 November 2025, Pablo Reinoso was awarded the Insignia of Knight of the Légion d’Honneur by President Emmanuel Macron during a ceremony held at the Élysée Palace. The event took place in the presence of Brigitte Macron and members of the artist’s family, marking Reinoso’s national recognition.

The artist comments, ‘This distinction represents for me a highly significant and symbolic moment, acknowledging the entirety of my artistic career and reaffirming my deep attachment to France and its values.’

The award also continues almost ten years of artistic dialogue between Reinoso and the Élysée Palace, a 300-year-old architectural landmark and the official residence of the president of France in Paris. This relationship began with the installation of Reinoso’s Racines de France (2016) on the south terrace of the palace and continued with Fleuves de France (2024), presented in the Cour d’Honneur on the occasion of the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. Positioned on both sides of the Palace’s entrance stairs, Fleuves de France forms two gently sloping sculptural ramps, bordered by Reinoso’s signature steel curves that serve as both supports and handrails, improving accessibility. At two symbolic entrances, both artworks establish a sculptural dialogue with the site’s history and embody the values of the Republic, such as the commitment to inclusivity. Following this, the distinction of Knight of the Légion d’Honneur of France affirms Reinoso’s legacy as a major artistic voice in the country.
