Kenia Almaraz Murillo to take part in the second Bienal das Amazônias

Taking place from August 29 to November 30, 2025, in Belém

Kenia Almaraz Murillo will participate in the second edition of the Bienal das Amazônias, which will be held in Belém from 26 August to 30 November 2025.

This year’s Biennial is guided by the concept of “green-distance,” inspired by Benedicto Monteiro’s book Verde Vagomundo. In Monteiro’s writing, the Amazon emerges as a sensorial landscape, shaped by its own rhythms and frequencies: a place of movement, memory, and transformation.

Following its inaugural 2023 edition, which explored the theme “Bubuia: Waters as a Source of Imagination and Desire,” the Bienal continues its mission as a space for exchange and deep listening across Amazonian territories. In 2025, this dialogue expands to include the Caribbean, echoing the dreamlike displacements of Monteiro’s vagomundo and portraying the Amazon as a living flow of voices, affections, resistances, and interwoven narratives.
