Art Basel Qatar 2026

Booth D116
3–7 Février 2026
Dubaï

For the inaugural Art Basel Qatar, Anthony Meier and Waddington Custot present a solo booth dedicated to the work of Etel Adnan (1925–2021). The selected pieces explore key themes in Adnan’s practice, including landscape, memory, displacement and connection to place.

Born in Beirut to a Greek mother and Syrian father, Adnan lived between Lebanon, Paris and California. Initially known as a writer and philosopher, painting became her most universal language. From the late 1950s, she developed a distinctive style of bold colour and simplified landscapes inspired by Mount Tamalpais, the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of Lebanon.

Seen together, the works on the booth, spanning several decades and mediums, engage with Adnan’s legacy from within the Arab world and highlight her lasting contribution to global modernism.
