Fabienne Verdier Joins Landmark Exhibition at Centre Pompidou-Metz

‘Copyists’ explores the creative legacy of imitation through contemporary lenses

Fabienne Verdier is among the artists featured in Copyists, a major new exhibition at the Centre Pompidou-Metz in collaboration with the Musée du Louvre, on view from 14 June 2025 to 2 February 2026. Bringing together nearly one hundred contemporary artists –including Jeff Koons, Antony Gormley, Julie Mehretu, and Danh Vō – Copyists reimagines the tradition of artistic replication as an act of reinterpretation, research, and creation.

Participants were invited to make copies within the Louvre itself, engaging directly with the museum’s historic collection. Through painting, drawing, sculpture, video, and writing, the exhibition explores the dynamic tension between originality and duplication, offering a fresh perspective on the role of copying in art today.
